Steatite Launches Ndura Rugged Computing Range for Demanding Environments

The Ndura 19-inch rackmount computing family combines the latest processing performance with environmental resilience and application-specific configuration.

Ndura addresses a common engineering challenge: how to deploy current-generation processing technology in environments where space, shock, vibration and electromagnetic compatibility must all be considered. Commercial servers may deliver the necessary computing power, but are not always designed around the environmental, integration and lifecycle requirements of specialist applications.

The first available computer, the Ndura-Server-2U, combines Intel® 6th Gen Xeon processing with a 550 mm-deep rack-mount chassis. Its comparatively shallow design supports installations where rack depth is restricted, while customisable I/O enables the system to be configured around application-specific sensors, networks, storage and communications equipment.

The platform addresses the naval shock and vibration requirements associated with MIL-STD-810 and DEF STAN 00-035. It is designed to meet EMC specifications for MIL-STD-461 and DEF STAN 59-411 requirements for naval below-deck environments.

A second Ndura configuration is also being developed with a dual redundant power supply, responding to demand from marine applications where power resilience and system availability are important considerations.

Ndura builds on Steatite’s experience in designing and manufacturing industrial and military-grade computers for harsh environments. Steatite develops standard, configurable and fully customised computing platforms, together with complex integrated systems and through-life support.

By combining modern processing capability with rugged construction, flexible interfaces and application-led engineering, Ndura provides a practical platform for organisations that cannot rely on conventional computing hardware in operational environments.
